USAID delivers life-saving HIV treatment and prevention services in over 50 countries and invests in strengthening countries’ health systems to reach HIV epidemic control. The Office of HIV/AIDS provides global leadership to maximize the impact of USAID's overall response to HIV and AIDS.

USAID drives a client-centered supply chain to achieve HIV epidemic control and maximize the availability, quality, and affordability of HIV and other global health commodities. To meet that challenge, USAID operates one of the largest public health supply chains in the world.

USAID’s global health efforts, grounded in investments in health systems strengthening and breakthrough innovation, are focused around three strategic priorities: Preventing child and maternal deaths; controlling the HIV/AIDS epidemic; and combating infectious diseases.

USAID, through PEPFAR, is working to achieve the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS' ambitious 90–90–90 global goals by 2020. USAID’s HIV and AIDS program has been on the forefront of the global AIDS crisis for 30 years. Today, more than 36.9 million people are living with HIV worldwide.

I am pleased to present you with this report on the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Expanded Response to HIV/AIDS. This report describes our HIV/AIDS program, and details how, with our increased HIV/AIDS budget, we began scaling up our response to the pandemic. We are now stepping up our war on AIDS even further.
