1 of 3 Ohio police officers shot in ambush dies

One of three Ohio officers has been released from the hospital after being shot during an ambush earlier this week.
The shooting happened at about 10:15 p.m. on Friday at the parking lot of the Marriot Hotel at 50 N. Martingale Road, Schaumburg police said. Police responded to the call of a woman shot. She was taken to Lutheran General Hospital where she later died. A suspect was taken into custody at the scene, Schaumburg police said.
One person died after a shooting Thursday night on Morse Road. Police found a victim with a gunshot wound and a firearm nearby.
Data analyzed by the CBS News Crime Unit shows at least 50 law enforcement officers have been shot in ambush attacks so far this year.
According to the Mayfield Heights Police Department, officers responded to a call around 9:45 p.m. on July 22 at the Gates Mills Place apartments, located at 6811 Mayfield Road. When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside the building.
