California formally sued the Trump administration Monday in a bid to void President Trump’s weekend move to federalize the state’s National Guard to contain anti-ICE rioting in Los Angeles.

As a fresh standoff developed Saturday between protesters and armed federal authorities in Paramount, Trump administration officials were vowing to prosecute any demonstrators who broke the law during Friday's violent demonstrations that accompanied immigration raids in Los Angeles.

President Donald Trump and his administration officials warned that the use of the military in response to protests against his immigration crackdown may not be limited to just Los Angeles, saying it could be the first "of many" -- and that protesters could be met with "equal or greater force.
