The former Kansas basketball guard made his return once again, this time accompanied by Jayhawks legend Danny Manning.

Colorado didn’t beat Kansas on Tuesday inside Allen Fieldhouse, but the Buffaloes head coach did have the opportunity to return to his college arena.

Now an assistant coach at Colorado, Danny Manning tells The Star the Buffs’ impending appearance in Lawrence “brings back a flood of memories.”

Although Manning returned to Allen Fieldhouse plenty of times after he was done coaching at KU while his son, Evan, played for the Jayhawks, Tuesday night will be the first time Manning, a Colorado assistant, will return as part of the opposition. He and the Buffs will try to end a 12-game losing streak against the 17th-ranked Jayhawks.

To Danny Manning, Allen Fieldhouse is a lot of things. It’s the gym he first stepped into as a high school senior when his father, Ed, was first hired as an assistant coach under Larry Brown in 1983.
