The fire started on July 9 and has 4% containment. Strong, gusty, and variable winds with low relative humidity are concerns with the fire. A crew of 667 personnel is working to contain the fire.

As of July 24, the fire has grown to 58,980 acres with 77% containment. The Arizona Department of Transportation also announced that US 89A has reopened in both directions.
