FORT WORTH — Gabe Madsen scored 17 points, Keanu Dawes added 16 and Utah never trailed in a 73-65 victory over TCU on Wednesday night. Lawson Lovering added 11 points and Mike Sharavjamts 10 for Utah (10-6, 2-3 Big 12). Jake Wahlin grabbed 11 rebounds to go with eight points.
TCU trailed by double digits most of the second half, but did make a late charge to cut Utah’s lead to 65-59 with 1:09 left on the clock. The Horned Frogs got a stop and had a chance to cut it to four, but Allette’s layup at the rim was blocked and TCU’s comeback attempt fell short.
The Horned Frogs couldn't overcome their poor shooting and suffered their first home loss of the season to Utah.
And while TCU’s star guards Vasean Allette (19 points, nine rebounds, four assists) and Noah Reynolds (12 points, three assists) ended up with good numbers, Utah didn’t allow them to burn the Utes outside of a few short stretches.
