The City of Savannah is preparing to open warming centers city-wide for residents next week in anticipation of extreme winter weather.

As snow fall and icy conditions gripped much of Georgia, the Department of Transportation working overnight to treat roads in Atlanta, and Central, Southern and coastal parts of the state.

This isn’t the first time Georgia Department of Transportation has prepped roads for winter weather, but GDOT says their methods have improved since the last blast of winter weather Savannah saw, back in 2018.
