The National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center released its February outlook on Friday. The long range forecast calls for most of Alabama to be in the area of 40 to 60 percent chances of seeing above normal temperatures. The same forecast calls for normal precipitation for the month.

Gov. Kay Ivey is proclaiming Feb. 3-7 as “Alabama Severe Weather Awareness Week,” a way of keeping the state’s residents informed about the dangers Mother Nature can bring.

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 7 a.m. on Saturday for dense fog until 10 a.m. for Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman counties.

A dense fog advisory is in effect for parts of southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi Wednesday until 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The fog will mainly impact areas along and east of Interstate 55,
