11:35 a.m. Friday, July 11, Japan time: Tropical Depression 06W spawned overnight Thursday more than 700 miles south of Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan. Joint Typhoon Warning Center’s initial forecast track keeps it more than 200 miles east of the Tokyo area at mid-day Monday.
The tropical depression is expected to intensify into a stronger rotating system to become Tropical Storm Chantal by Saturday, forecasters said.
The storm's is projected to move by Delaware throughout the day, impacting the entire state. The National Weather Service forecast is calling for showers and severe thunderstorms throughout the day. The heaviest rains are expected to hit between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
