With a 5-8 vote, the Board of Regents failed to approve a motion to hire Lawrence Drake II. Regents Stephanie Goodman, Laura Perkins, Joseph Arrascada, Susan Brager and Byron Brooks voted yes.

The race for the District 10 seat for the Nevada System of Higher Education’s Board of Regents will see previous regent Kevin Melcher and politically green Joseph Arrascada face off in November.

The virtual ceremony welcomed Lois Tarkanian (District 2), Byron Brooks (District 3), Patrick Boylan (District 5), and Joseph Arrascada (District 10) to the 13-member board.
