CINCINNATI — There was no funeral, but the Cincinnati Reds’ Viking celebration is dead. The celebration that began on Opening Day last season lasted through the first 51 games of the 2024 season.
But last Friday, with the Reds carrying a 21-30 record, the Reds retired the Viking celebration and started a new one that officially turned the page from 2023 to 2024.
They retired the Viking helmet celebration in favor of a tunnell celebration inside the dugout. The Reds are currently 24-32 and 8.5 games out of first place in the National League Central Division.
