Texas ordered a ban on the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek on government devices days after the popular chatbot has shook investors and the tech community in recent weeks for its ability to compete with OpenAI.

DeepSeek is accused of data leaks and potential Chinese government surveillance. Italy, Taiwan, and Texas have banned DeepSeek over security risks. NASA and the U.S. Navy have banned DeepSeek on government-issued devices. Authorities in Greece, Ireland, Belgium, and France are investigating similar bans.
