The Supreme Court delivered a major blow to TikTok by declining to block a law that would likely lead to the social media platform being banned in the United States within days.

A sale does not appear imminent and, although experts have said the app will not disappear from existing users’ phones once the law takes effect.

Donald Trump had asked the Supreme Court to delay TikTok’s ban-or-sale law to give him an opportunity to act once he returns to the White House.
