Tsunami warnings are being downgraded in most areas following one of this century’s most powerful earthquakes in Russia.

A magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula on July 29, triggering alerts, watches and warnings in some U.S. states.

The National Weather Service removed its Tsunami Advisory for the Oregon Coast after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Russia, and residents were advised to move to higher ground or evacuate the tsunami zone if a Tsunami Warning is issued.
