SAN ANTONIO — Hundreds of protesters gathered in downtown San Antonio on Thursday night to voice their opposition to increased ICE operations under the Trump administration.

Texas National Guard soldiers lined up at the Emily Morgan Hotel, only a block away from the Alamo. The protest joined similar demonstrations across the state and the nation.
Community demonstrations are being organized for Wednesday and Saturday in the Alamo City, in conjunction with nationwide anti-Trump rallies.
The governor of Texas has deployed thousands of soldiers and troops to make sure anti-ICE protests remain peaceful.
The mayor and the police chief said the governor did not notify them of the military deployment. They also have no details about the soldiers’ mission. They said the city is prepared to oversee peaceful demonstrations at the Alamo tonight and at Travis Park on Saturday.
As protests continue in the U.S. over immigration enforcement raids, Abbott says he will deploy the state's National Guard as needed.
