Virginia's annual combined sales tax holiday weekend is the first weekend in August. For 2025, it's Aug. 1-3. Consumers can get eligible hurricane preparedness items, clothing and school supplies, and Energy Star and WaterSense items without paying the state sales and use tax.

Virginia's 2025 Sales Tax Holiday is here! The three-day holiday began on Friday at 12:01 a.m. and will last until Sunday at 11:59 p.m. During the sales tax holiday, people can buy qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star and WaterSense products without paying sales tax.

The 2025 holiday will run for two full weeks, beginning at midnight on Friday, August 1, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 14.
