The trends on Gift Nifty indicate a flat-to-positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,480 level, a premium of nearly 20 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The stock market plunged into the red upon opening as trading began on Monday, February 10, 2025, dragged down by metal and healthcare stocks. At 9:20 am IST, the benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 302.

Sensex opened at 77,384.98 against its previous close of 77,311.80 and tanked 1,281 points or 1.5% to hit day’s low of 76,030.59 during the session

The Nifty 50 and Sensex ended 1.32% each. This is the sharpest fall since Jan. 21. The NSE Nifty Realty declined the most, followed by Nifty Media and Nifty Auto.

Sensex and Nifty 50 are falling today. The BSE Sensex and Nifty 5o dopped more than 0.75 per cent in the early morning trade. The selling came after Trump announced to impose 25 per cent tariff on steel and aluminium imports.

The Nifty 50 was down 339 points as of 1.30 pm, while the BSE Sensex shed 1047 points. All 13 major sectors declined, while the broader smallcaps and midcaps lost 2.5% and 2%, respectively.

All 13 major sectoral indices were in the red, with financials, oil & gas, and auto stocks dragging Nifty lower.

Indian equity markets started the week on a weaker note, with key indices slipping in early trade. The NSE Nifty 50 opened at 23,522.45, falling 37.50 points or 0.16 %, while the BSE Sensex dropped 250.62 points or 0.32% to 77,609.57.

Sensex and Nifty 50 extended the losing streak to 5th day in a row on Tuesday (Feb 11) amid continuous foreign fund outflows and fresh US tariffs.

The Indian stock market faced selling pressure for the fourth day on February 10, with Sensex dropping over 600 points to 77,189.04 and Nifty 50 falling nearly 200 points to 23,357.60.
