NBA free agency officially kicked off on Monday evening as the negotiating window opened for eligible players and all teams across the league at 6 p.m. ET. Monday night was relatively quiet, but the first stunners of the new league year came Tuesday morning.

At least for now, the relationship between LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers may not be in an ideal place after he picked up his player option, according to The Athletic's Sam Amick.

The possibility of James finishing his career elsewhere has now become a real possibility, and the Knicks were thrown into the thick of the rumor mill. However, the New York Post’s Stefan Bondy shut down the possibility of James coming to New York anytime soon.
