California officials on Monday said they would file a federal lawsuit over the mobilization of the National Guard during the weekend's massive immigration protests.

In announcing the lawsuit, Attorney General Rob Bonta called the president's move to federalize the National Guard an "infringement" on state sovereignty.

California is suing the Trump administration over its federalization of the state’s National Guard, alleging the move to deploy some 2,000 troops across the state without the approval of the governor or local law enforcement is unlawful, Attorney General Rob Bonta announced Monday, June 9.
