The Hungaroring is hosting round 14 of the 2025 Formula One world championship with the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend — and it is McLaren looking the dominant force. It was just five days ago that Oscar Piastri overtook McLaren teammate Lando Norris to claim victory in Belgium and extend his drivers’ championship lead to 16 points.

Lando Norris completed a Hungarian Grand Prix practice double on Friday as runaway leaders McLaren dominated both sessions while leaving something in reserve and almost colliding at the end.

Oscar Piastri led the way from team-mate Lando Norris as McLaren also ruled the final practice session for the Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix on Saturday. Piastri clocked 1 minute 14.

The McLaren camp is divided on whether Red Bull’s Max Verstappen still poses a threat to the team in this season’s Formula 1 World Championship. The Dutchman is 65 points behind Lando Norris, and a further 16 behind Oscar Piastri in the Drivers’ Championship, having taken two victories in 2025.

Max Verstappen has to give way to McLaren this season. The Dutchman needs to outperform his car every weekend just to squeeze out the best possible result. Still, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella doesn’t seem ready to count Verstappen out just yet.
