Hulu and Freeform in the midst of developing a third season of "Cruel Summer," which would see Season 1 star Olivia Holt return to the mystery series

After a mixed reception for season 2 and the show’s cancellation in December 2023, Cruel Summer is set to return for a third season, reigniting interest among its fanbase. Hulu, in collaboration with Freeform, confirmed that the series is officially revived and currently in development, promising more twists, suspense, and dark teenage drama.

The anthology series Cruel Summer is reportedly being redeveloped at Freeform and Hulu. The show originally premiered on April 20, 2021, and ran for two seasons. Despite becoming the most-watched series on Freeform, it was canceled after Season 2 following a dip in ratings.
