Waves were reported along a wide swath of the Northern California coast, including in San Francisco. The rest of the state was under a lesser tsunami advisory.

A massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake struck off Russia's Pacific coast, sparking tsunami warnings and evacuations of coastal areas in Hawaii and alerts along the U.S. West Coast. In Russia, a camera captured the eruption of the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano -- the highest mountain in the region -- sending hot lava down its western slope.

"The pilot successfully ejected and is safe. There are no additional affected personnel," a statement from NAS Lemoore said.

It marks the latest crash for America's top stealth fighter aircraft. A US Navy F-35 fighter jet crashed in California on Thursday, marking another accident for the stealth fighter jet, the second this year.
