FC Barcelona and the City Council of Barcelona are on the verge of reaching an agreement that could significantly speed up the ongoing renovation works at the Spotify Camp Nou, reports Mundo

Barcelona’s return to their Camp Nou stadium has been further delayed until May at the earliest. Work to refurbish the Camp Nou and increase its capacity to 105,000 — the largest in European football — began in June 2023.

For a few months now, Barcelona has been playing away from the Camp Nou, as Joan Laporta decided it was time to carry out some renovations at the stadium that serves as the home of the blaugrana team.

Barcelona's bid to return to Camp Nou before the end of this season has been dealt a fresh blow. A full-scale rebuild of their spiritual home has been ongoing since summer 2023 with initial plans to reopen in time for the club's 125th anniversary last November.
